Sword of Convallaria has been eating away at an hour every day since april. If you like Tactics turn based combat, with a rather F2P friendly gacha system for your legendary tactical units, it's quite a fun and addictive habit. I do not play gacha games, so my bias is towards turn-based strategy combat and the tweaking of your units skills/gear. Also, there are two "story line" modes which is strange but interesting. One "true story" has like 15 possible endings over 50 or so game weeks. This aspect was quite tedious in the past, but theyve since added "anchor points" where you can return and finish multiple endings much easier. Currently after the 1 year anniversary they are readying a new campaign and the "perfect" ending to the first story campaign is complete and available to playthrough.. And of course the timing of the "re release" of final fantasy tactics, perhaps it signals some sort of positive uplift to the genre, I'd love to see a "New" FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre, etc...For now they seem to be content with new IPs and remasters with a touch up.
anyway to summarize...
PROS: Amazing pixel art, character splash art, classic FF Tactics music, great story, effects are decent, Voice Acting is great multiple languages. Animated cut scenes are amazing but far between. Character Customization is fairly excellent.
Mids: Combat is Ok.
CONS: Gacha system, ive been told its very "generous" compared to other games in this genre, so it is Free to play friendly, but I am a low spender(I don't mind contributing to the devs in this regard). No english Voice Acting. Can take awhile to master all the systems, and getting "perfect" upgrades can be extremely slow.
