To reinforce Estu's point, here's a little experiment for you to try.
Step 1: Go and find a white-conned mob.
Step 2: Kill it in full equipment.
Step 3: Take off your armor.
Step 4: Find that same mob (make sure it's the same level) and kill it without your armor.
You will never doubt AC again.
