Armor wise get banded and bronze. If you don't have money farm up spiderling silks, bone chips and low med high quality skins. Go to East Commons tunnel and sell them.
For weapons get a polished granite tomahawk and or an Iksar Berserker Club once you can afford it.
Close to 20 start looking for a high damage two hander.
