You are ridiculously wrong. Donations barely cover the hosting costs.. and I mean barely. Lots more people used to donate than do now. You would think having two servers would have increased the amount of people who would donate, but that assumption would be wrong.

Also, knowing that I don't make any money from doing this, it's quite offensive to hear someone like yourself say you're tired of hearing the 'it's free' excuse. You see, I get paid to develop things irl, so I know this is fucking free. Else, you would be paying our developer salaries from your subscription fee. You aren't required to pay anything, so it is free.

What isn't free is hosting the server. If you want to help with that please do. If this was a business, I wouldn't tell you to stfu.



Pretty much this. I can't speak for all members of the staff, but I 'donate' a portion of my RL time every day recreating classic everquest just so it will exist somewhere. I have spent a ridiculous amount of time and would destroy everyone at Everquest trivia :P



In the past, we sometimes would have a surplus of donations, which would carry over to help cover off-time months. Now, we do not have that luxury, and the donations barely cover the cost of the server. Profit is absolutely laughable for a couple of reasons. As I have stated in the past, the excess donations go towards future payments for hosting.

If something happened where donations no longer reached the necessary amount for hosting, Rogean and I would cover costs for the server, but I don't know for how long. He might feel differently than myself, but I'm not keen on working for free and paying rent for random people to complain for no reason.

Personally, Nilbog, I don't know why these threads endure. You don't have to explain yourself to people like this. Anyone remotely smart and grateful knows what you guys do for all the players here. I know it gets your goat when people say you guys make money hand over fist doing this and aren't doing shit for the players, but I think the forums and the server as a whole would benefit tremendously if these threads were deleted and these idiots who complain weren't given a voice.
