Jameson is good and I find it comparable to Bushmills in many ways. They are both solid Irish whiskeys(granted Bushmills is from Northern Ireland which is what I think you are alluding to). I just prefer Bushmills to Jameson since it has a little more bite and I find their Dark Bush Whiskey to be top notch. But if we were talking about the best of Irish whiskeys, I would have to go with: Michael Collins
Michael Collins is really not much better than Jameson or Powers, and of the three is probably the most expensive. I prefer powers for Irish whiskey unless you're talking artisan level craft whiskey, which you just can't get. Irish whiskey is different than Scotch. Especially as it pertains to the distribution mechanism of smaller distilleries. A $20-50 jump in price will get you an entirely different bottle of scotch, but the same investment in Irish whiskey will not give you a similar jump in quality. Redbreast is your best bet imho if you're going to spend more, but whyyyyyy?
