Rexx is doing just fine on his warrior.
If you have slightly more fortitude than a fire beetle you can make it as a melee. Just don't expect the WoW journey where you get max level in 2 weeks. Roll a caster type to farm gear and level alongside your melee when you cant find a group for him.
