If you have platinum poof like that, sometimes if you zone it'll end up on your cursor. Although, I don't know if this is the case here. You most likely gave it to someone other than the person you had thought.
I have had times where I went to trade plat, hit accept etc. Platinum went poof, other player never got it (I zoned, and had it back on my mouse).
