You might see brief spikes into the 7-10k range, but generally it's around 2-3k.
I mean, people used to multibox on dialup with no problem... even on 28.8k modems.
Edit: Just ran a small test on mine. P99 was using about 1.15k/s with login, 1 zoning (EC->NRo) and minimal fighting.
