This issue isn't a unique trait to Catholic church. Also, how you can claim how much we DIDN'T hear about this is hard to grasp. It's widely known, widely joked, everyone knows.
How about the Public School teacher molestation problem that appears to be much larger than the Catholic Priest variety? Do we hear much about that? Not yet...
