Have you tried plugging any other non-logitech mouse in (just long enough for Windows to recognize it) and then trying your logitech again? If you don't have another manufacturer's mouse, try uninstalling the mouse driver and then replugging your Logitech so it installs the driver again.

Plug and play is great - except when it doesn't work quite right...
