Been digging through a few french archives lately, apparently the french say 'les pets' when referring to pets, which is a english/french hybrid (les means the, and then using the english word 'pets'). Pets literally means farts in french. Makes for some funny guides when using google translate:

Farts
The farts are sometimes a nice help, but in the depths of a dungeon, they are more often a source of disaster, especially during the movements of the group. They also have the habit of breaking indefatigably enchanting Mez. Their unfortunate tendency to move recklessly sometimes triggers memorable disasters. They are therefore to be avoided outside the periods when the group camps a precise and known position. Do not fart without having the permission of the group leader. If the organizer gives the order to destroy the farts, do not discuss but run quickly.
