On my bard i did a few levels by swarming, but i found it nearly as fast to charm and/or fear kite. Its very easy to do as a bard, and theres no risk. If fear fails or charm breaks you can either out run mobs with selos, or regen with the lev 6 song if they hit you a few times before a fresh fear/charm lands.
