...anyway, OP, the basics are this:

You can greatly increase any humanoid charm pet damage by simply giving it a SECONDARY item like a torch, drum, etc and it will quad. You can also do nifty things like giving it proc'ing weapons, such as Swarmcaller in addition to a torch for quads + mana free slow. This is more useful when you're maintaining a single pet for long periods of time and keeping it healed.

Additionally, humanoid pets will equip any worn slots as well. So you can give a pet 2x Adamantite Band and 1x Rusty Spiked Shoulderpads for an additional -30 MR which theoretically should improve the duration of your charms....especially so over long XP sessions.
