I used to play on a server that had a cool alternate mechanic to the normal ZEM. And that was; if a mob had been spawned for more than 6 hours, it was worth 10% extra exp than normal. And this went up every hour until the mob was worth double exp, then stopped.

Every time you killed the mob, its exp value went down by 10% (if it was worth a bonus) until you were just getting normal exp for the mob.

This encouraged groups to go to out of the way camps and zones because you would most likely be getting an exp bonus for doing so. I thought it was cool and fun.
