Do teal people really still cling to the idea that teal was some kind of magic place? It was just green with kingdom as the top guild instead of seal team, everything else was exactly the same

If you wanted a server first, you stayed on Green. If you wanted to join the top zerg raid guild, you stayed on Green. In short, if you wanted to
compete, you stayed on Green.
So, Teal wound up being the place where the people who didn't care about competition went to just play EverQuest ... which resulted in it having a lot less asshole players on it.
Did that make Teal all sunshine and rainbows? Of course not. But if you played on Teal, you definitely noticed the higher quality of players, and
that was what made it a noticebly superior server.
