Snare whip isn't great because snare is only a medium-aggro spell and the item has an AC penalty. Always go for something with a stun or slow proc. Can't really get the latter on a one-hander until Velious, so I'd use a Sarnak Warhammer in off-hand with RMoY in main. BotBDE is good but will cost a fortune, and Skean should also be good but can't be bought.
