Unsure whether the kick/stun portion of the original thread (below) is still possible in game, however Pain and Suffering does attempt to punch, hit, etc. when it should only strike.

I found this odd:

Everytime that happens, it says "Pain and Suffering tries to strike YOU, but misses!" and then you IMMEDIATELY die. Apparently it misses hard enough to do damage anyway.

Has anyone else had this happen? When you zone into some place, before it even says "You have entered (whatever zone)" it will say "You try to strike (someone or something), but miss! (Thing from last line) died." Once, with my magician Jortem at level 12, I zoned into Everfrost and it said "You try to strike an ice giant, but miss! an ice giant died." Does this mean that when you zone, you temporarily become Pain and Suffering?

I think when he says "You will not evade me [insert name here]", what is happening is the person fighting it tried to run, and it is summoning them back to it (it can do that btw, wish i could do that to those damn runners, lol)

Also, on the zone in thing, that happens to me, even on Pcs! Rather interesting, It might be the thing someone else said where you become Pain and Suffering, and someone/thing died the instant you started or finished zoning. The message is even the same, when you die it says "Pain and Suffering tries to strike YOU, but misses! You have died." and when the zone thing happens it says "You try to strike (NPC or PC), but miss!""(NPC/PC) died." Ive had that happen with up to five things in one zone (think it was 2 pcs, an orc centurion, a orc pawn, and a bat) to bad no exp from it, lol

This is just something that struck my mind as I was reading this.

When you die sometimes of a DoT or falling, it may say:

'Pain and Suffering tries to strike YOU, but misses'
'Pain and Suffering tries to strike YOU, but misses'
You died.

Maybe he just follows everyone around or something and waits til they fall off a cliff and die to do something noticable.

guard and the NPC in the top room of the PVP arena. I 
admit I have not tried anything with the Ogre inside the 
building at the bottom of the first ramp. :P

This mob exists in EVERY zone. My guess was there had to be a way for Verant to have you "bleed to death", but couldn't figure out how to have it happen automatically. They then created an invisible mob not meant to be killed or found named Pain and Suffering. When you are close to death, this mob gets summoned to you and attacks you. If successfully "hits" you, you get a msg about bleeding to death, which is actually this mob meleeing you. Once, I was killing a goblin in FM, and it says Pain and Suffering tried to strike it, but missed..so it also happens to NPCs as well.

I bet this isn't a creature at all! If you jump into the lava in Lavastone Mountain it says Pain and Suffering strikes you for 600 points of damage 5 times in a row. So this isn't a creature because its like dieing from poison and disease!

Sheesh, pain and suffering exists in EVERY zone. It just quickly appears and attempts to strike you when you die of poison/falling, etc. and then goes back to a very hard to reach place of the zone.

So it does exist and you can fight it.

Pain and suffering is when you have purple in your HP bar, When you die without the purple bar, laying on the ground, bleeding or whatever it will say "Pain and suffering tries to strike, but misses" If you do and die anyways it will not say that.
