Yes, the paragraphs please.
Here's a pair of youtube links instead going over a number of the changes.

I played in the beta, and the layering / phasing mechanic was absolutely horsecrap to deal with in breaking immersion. I understand why Blizz is forced to use it due to player load on the server in key starting areas on launch day, but leaving it in place for between 4-6 weeks = quest objects, mining / herb nodes, pvp enemy player targets, and even your friends or a casual ally that you're not grouped with suddenly fading away as you are shunted into a new layer without warning. You have to experience it to really appreciate how annoying it is.

The melee leeway mechanic was in at launch in 2004 due to broadband not being a game requirement on the box and some people still using Dial Up at the time. I recall it, even though I was on DSL then. The issue is that the leeway mechanic that was put in is NOT classic in how freakin' long the distance is for strikes. This is a piece of custom code thrown in, and it wasn't implemented well at all during the Beta.

Speaking of the beta, mob drop loot was inflated in a pretty big way off of starting mobs and mobs out in the barrens. No - I am not going off of my memory of playing Mang0s based private servers. I'm going off of my memory of leveling multiple characters on Tichondrius and Cenarian Circle servers back at launch as well as pre Burning Crusade. You are going to get a LOT more in cloth, white, and green items if they stick to the beta values in comparison to what old retail ran with. It felt like candy land.

Auto loot, Automated Report System, and other changes are either going to make you happy or make you sad, but they are both major changes over classic as well. Approach launch of Classic with a massive pinch of salt, and again, I'll be here on P1999 with or without a free Earthquake.
