Anyway, I half-confirmed on Discord that Combine Weapons are a thing day one.
So I think I will aim for a
Combine Long Sword at 52pp as my "first" weapon.
Then try to farm a Dragoon Dirk, maybe a Gladius, maybe a PGT, maybe a Brazen Brass Kilij if quest is in.
We will see! fun times ahead!
