Nah, people
should be sympathetic to one another. That's part of being human. Embracing desteuctive ideas as evidence of one's sympathetic nature is not virtuous though. Refusing to acknowledge reality only places one at a disadvantage.
Sympathy isn't some ellusive trait guarded by only the most pious of men. It's in fairly large supply. Sure there are those without it, but they are disadvantaged and less for it.
