I found the fix! Set the max framerate in-game to 60FPS.

ENJOY!

For future reference, this can be resolved the same way its resolved on windows: just use eqplaynice. I launch it in my prefix before I launch the client. It does not like higher framerates, so I usually stick it at 60-75 foreground.

I'm having the same problem. I tried different distros (Ubuntu, Manjaro) and had the same exact problem. I never could find a fix.
I finally found a fix for this. You have to run WinEQ2 from Lavish Software to limit the foreground FPS of the EverQuest window.

Does the in-game FPS UI not work for you because your monitor FPS is higher than the EQ max (and therefore you need one of those two 3rd-party programs)?

I want to add this to the technical FAQ, but want to make sure I understand it first.

I'm using Bottles in Fedora Linux to play Project1999

My monitor refresh rate is 100. I've tried limiting the MaxFPS setting in eqclient.ini but it always changes it back to 100. When I use the WinEQ2 tool I'm able to force that FPS to something lower, like 60.

Now my horizontal and vertical mouselook are the same.
