In fact I would argue that all cheats created over time were created using existing attributes of the games as they were released. Nobody was recreating the same exact game, modifying it in the way that cheats modified it, and releasing it as their own product.
EQ was based on the text-based MUDs that came before it (and it's often referred to as the first graphical MUD). Text-based logs weren't some accidental afterthought: they were a part of the game's DNA.

Plus, you're ignoring the fact that parsers like the one I mentioned existing in classic times, and yet the original EQ devs did nothing to remove the logs. They absolutely did take steps to block true cheat programs, like ShowEQ or the macro one, but they didn't do anything to stop logging ... because they considered it a feature, not a bug.
