Default Shaman Epic quest question (final steps)

As I understood the quest, once you had max ally faction with true spirit and the iksar scale from lord Rak'Ashir, you could turn it in to the spirit sentinel near the pond to complete the quest. The path you took to get the scale can vary and you don't need to complete all steps necessarily.

I maxed my faction by repeating the step in which you collect 6 reports in CoM and turning in the book. After waiting and saving and trading, I've finally found someone to MQ a tear with me. So now he maxes his faction, turns the tear into Rak'Ashir, and after killing him I loot the iksar scale and turn it in.

My question is: does anyone foresee any problems with this plan, or know if anything has changed in the last couple patches that will affect these final steps?

The turn in spirit isn't the one in the hut. He is at the bottom of the pond.

If he has faction to turn in the tear, and you have faction to turn in the scale....just be sure to do the dire wolf first if you want the boots. Your faction resets after the final turn in.

That's not true. You can turn in the tear before max ally. Just make sure you are max ally when turning in the scale to the one in the pond.

I have a question on the shammy epic, I hear that some steps can be skipped, but each step seems to require the item from the previous step... so what gives? especially since step 2 involves going into NFP, so if I am an ogre, do I need to wipe the guards in the path? or go invis? and step 3 sounds like a major PITA with going under water and having a KOS, MR, dispelling mob pathing right by you frequently.

Most people do this...

1. Befriend a druid.
2. Find the NFP tunnels and bind there (both of you.)
3. Port to BB.
4. Druid gate and med.
5. You kill Pegleg and get gem from spirit.
6. Gate.
7. Turn in gem*.
8. Go to #4

*The NPC has 3 spots.
1. In the tunnel
2. In the alley near tunnel.
3. Upstairs in Jade Tiger Inn.

For 2 and 3, KOS people need the druid to share wolf form.
I believe it takes around 83 turn-ins if that is all you do.

I heard but never tried it that you can leave someone with the spirit after you kill Pegleg. They can keep hailing the spirit while you gate back to NFP tunnel, turn in the gem, gate back and get another gem from the spirit, repeat the process. I guess this last until the corpses timer runs out.
