Spells: Lvl 52 Mage Fire Pet DS broken

The lvl 52 Magician fire pet Vocarate: Fire; has a broken damage shield. Its hitting for only 2 damage. Is this a know bug?

This is correct. The magician wizard pets were casting buffs too powerful for their level. This was changed on eqlive sometime post-PoP.

What do you mean?

The wiz type Magician firepets (Vocerate:Fire and Greater Vocerate:Fire) were never ment to cast fire elemental aura on themselves like the lower level fire pets do.

Thats what this patch fixed.

A few new wizard spells will be added to these pets, "soon", as they are missing a couple low level wizard spells from their arsenal.

There is a reason you don't use fire pets after level 50.
