Default New mage and having a blast :)

Hello all! Just wanted to say hi & say how much I am enjoying Project99.
I did make an account a few years back but due to a lot of rl drama and moving house etc I kind of never got a chance to get into it. So I couldn't remember my old login password. Sadface.

I decided to start a new mage, something I'd never played before and she is a lot of fun.
Belixa is almost level 4 and looking forward to getting a pet, especially now I've slowly scraped enough money together for my spells hehe. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I felt like I'd won the lotto last night, I chased down a decaying skeleton that I saw carrying a cracked staff and got that and a small bag too!

Qeynos is fairly quiet, but I've had some friendly players run by and toss some buffs my way, which was nice. I'm enjoying just taking it slow and starting from scratch, I've almost got a full set of cloth armor.

I downloaded the high res graphics and the luclin models, and it still blows me away how pretty Norrath is, even after all these years.

Anyway nice to meet you all [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I'm an aussie so I'm probably on weird hours compared to most of you.

Be advised that there's a 50% exp penalty if your pet does over 50% of the damage to a monster. The common way to get around this is to reclaim your pet when the monster is almost dead and then kill it with a low level nuke.

Welcome! I just returned last week myself. I got an IP exception so my wife could play with me as well and we just started a couple Iksar last night. Getting geared up is slow but fun. Got some raw silk items made for my monk and the skellies there drop shields so she got one for her shammy and we're just plugging away. Lots of fun!

Tips for keeping the game fun: opt out of RnF and ignore all posts in other forums that belong in RnF.

thanks for the tip Estu, I knew that pets did eat xp, I didn't realise it was that bad. I'm on a malachite budget as a newbie but it might become a big deal later on. I'm not overly fussed about max xp rate, I'm quite happy to play for the nostalgia factor and I would like to get around a lot of the low level zones before outlevelling them.

My bf never actually played everquest back in the day, he's thinking about joining me.

Boozer, any relation to the Cold Fury back from live? My bard Xarine used to play on Stromm, and Sarenot was a guildie and friend, and I know after most of us stopped playing for wow he moved over to GM for Cold Fury.

In order to receive full experience for a kill solo, you need to do more than 50% of the damage to the mob. If your pet out-damages you or the group, it will take 50% of the experience away from the kill. This is a major change from the previous system, in which you only needed to do a single point of damage to the mob in order to get full experience. If you are grouped, your group and you will get full xp from the kill.
