Default Blue necro outmezzing me

I tried to mez a kobold priest in solb (level 39-40) as a very well geared (231 cha) enchanter at level 35. Mezz resisted every time and I died a horrible death.

Our necro, level 32, 70 cha, was able to mezz it just fine.

Should a level 32 necro even be able to land that spell? Should mine be sticking (I did tash!).

Usually I think a dev would like more concrete, larger sampled evidence. In this case, you probably just got unlucky. Enthrall and Screaming Terror both have 0 resist mods, so I think you just got smacked with the RNG.

If you're worried about Necro's usurping your place - Screaming Terror lasts for 3 ticks, While all yours last for more than double that up to well over a minute.

How many resists is "every time"? Two? Three? Is there any chance you mistakenly were trying to mez a kobold advisor? I only ask because I've never been able to land a magic based spell on that guy. Other than that, I'd be curious how "easily" the necro mezzed the priest, considering you weren't there to verify it for yourself.

It's all so unspecific...

does it depend on lack of it? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Has it ever been proven that it did?

Mez and lull are more dependent on the level discrepancy than anything else. My point is that as an enchanter with good cha gear my mez does not stick well to yellow mobs and rarely to red, especially one that high.

So how can a necro with an 8 level discrepancy have no problems landing her's?

Is it that my mez should be more effective than it is? Do necro mez stick better to high red cons than an enchanter?

They both check vs Magic Resistance with zero resistance modifier. You just got unlucky.

As an enchanter I should also get a bonus to resist based on my charisma. Whether the spell sticks is also highly dependent on the level discrepancy. So, no, it's not the same.

At level 39 I can land a level 4 mez on a hill giant just fine. But at level 4.. it will never stick.
