before lv20 1h slashing weapon

if I understand the mechanics correctly there's a pretty fierce cap on damage for low levelers.

so it seems like a fast 1h weapon would be good.

what would be a good weapon to use till about level 20 or so, after which I'll go 2H slashing?

particularly something on the 50-100pp range or cheaper if you know of anything.

What class are you, for starters? Since you said 2H slashing after 20 I'm assuming you're either a Pally or an SK.

Assuming Pally, there's no decision; you want Sword of the Morning. Pair it with a Sarnak Battle Shield or a Clay Guardian Shield and you'll be rocking.

If you're a Shadowknight, your best bet is probably Noctivagant Blade, which is basically the SK variant of SotM. It has a better ratio and stats, but no proc.

For a Warrior, while they're not as good as other weapons early on due to the damage cap, you can't go wrong with two Wurmslayers.

There really aren't any cheap options for a Pally, but for a Warrior or SK (assuming they can use Piercing), you might try Obsidian Shards if you're on a budget.

Finally, if you're a Pally, you should save up for a Ghoulbane. You'll need it for the Fiery Avenger quest, and it'll make you an ABSOLUTE TERROR against undead when you are high enough to proc with it.

BTW, the damage cap is 20 for levels 1-9, and 28 for 10-19, although I've been able to hit a bit harder in the teens as a Pally thanks to Str buffs, as hard as 37.

Cheap, bang-for-the-buck 1hs under L20 would be Sword of Skyfire (10/22 WAR/PAL/SHD/RNG), proc is terribad (PBAE) but won't proc 'til L45 so that's not a problem really.

Other good ones, for warrior is Kunzar Ku'juch, 8/22 with engulfing darkness proc (sadly not until 50) for 50-100pp, or Green Jade Broadsword, 11/25 8 str 8 dex 10 sv magic 10 sv poison (i think saves are correct, its 2 different ones at +10) for around 200-300 unless you find someone willing to part with it for cheaper.

Kunzar Ku'juch proc's at 40, not 50 (at 50 replace with the Silken Whip of Ensnaring which is a much better snare proc'ing weapon that will be affordable to any 50 warrior.) Kunzar Ku'juch is incredibly cheap because it's so easy to get (drops off trash mobs in CoM.)

For Warrior on a budget I'd recommend Viik's Dark Defender, seen it as cheap as 20pp in EC. It's a 7/20 piercer that also gives 10 AC. Cheap piercing skill-up weapon that's also a decent off-hand at lower levels (my Warrior didn't replace it until L40 iirc.)
