Default Weekly Repops - possible implementations

So it's been stated that simulated repops are still on the table ( http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...57&postcount=9 ) but not how they might manifest on P99. Should the server actually log everyone off at a set time? Or would you just see a ~15 minute warning prior to it happening? A few options off the top of my head, with my obviously biased comments on each.

1. Full classic style (repop time known) - On live, servers came down tuesday mornings... and came up sometime tuesday midday-early afternoon (most of the time), with a full repop.

I like the classic style and here's why. A set timeframe makes it possible for non-zerg guilds to ante up and make an impact on the raid scene. Let's see how many mobs zerg guilds can get if everyone knows the respawn time in advance. Here's a hint: A lot less than they're getting now. There are many reasons why this worked out well for live EQ.

2. Shifting repop schedule (repop time known) - Say Tuesday ~1-3pm one week, then next week Thursday 3-6pm, next week Saturday 6-9pm. etc.

Not classic, but possibly still a decent option. Gives the other players/time zones a better shot once in a while verses having it at exactly the same time every week.

3. Varied repop time (repop time unknown) - Random server broadcast goes out with a 10-15 minute warning of imminent repops.

It's better than what we have now, but not by a lot. More of the same with zerg guilds dominating off hour repops, batphoned/camped out alt army raiding prevails once again.

Which option do you prefer? What else should on the table? Let's leave respawn variance alone for once and just focus on how the repop simulation should work. Discuss!

Props to the OP, but the reality is they'll put in what they put in (if any changes are made) :/

i would say the first bullet is the best in general since we all do like the classic feel as well as this server is to be classic. shifting would be to much trouble for the mods & alot of pain & number 3 would effect alot of people in a bad way, a set time is always nice for anything

1 is cool.

3 would be cool if it was a random time set up by variance...as weird as that sounds that I said cool and variance in the same sentence.

I am willing to bet they'll read this thread all the same, and possibly hear some ideas or points of view they hadn't considered before. Purposefully did not make it another poll thread to leave it open ended.

#1 was the way it was on live for sure. But with FTE the way it is put up with here guess who still wins? TMO. They have alts camped in all the good spots. And the best gear. Same oh same oh. On every server on live the top 2 guilds pretty much had the raid scene sowed up. TMO, FE are just repeating History at this point in time.

Seems like the person paying the most attention with the lowest ping wins? unless I'm missing something about FTE messages. When everything's popped simultaneously, having alts camped in various places is much less of an advantage than it is when you spread it all out all the time like it currently is.

Sure it still helps since "mobilizing" is just logging out and back in. That takes time that other guilds can leverage. TMO/FE would have to prioritize their target selection based on what they want the most or what they think they can get away with.

How can you confirm something that hasn't happened yet?
