Random Idea: cyclical classic era server

A new blue server that starts out as Vanilla EQ. Once it catches up in the proper timeline fashion with the existing Kunark (or Velious) era server, it merges with the old server and resets itself to day 1 vanilla EQ.

pros:
- provides the FULL classic experience rather than a snapshot of the current progression
- gives new and old players who like starting out on a fresh server the opportunity to do so once every so often
- would create a neat generational shift on the old blue server that might shake things up when the new players are absorbed

cons:
- helluva lot of work for the staff to implement
- population concerns

Not to mention already splitting a low population server.

Good job not even reading the post. Nothing would be deleted. Also what's so sacred about this forum we can't post ideas here? It's definitely not off-topic. Angry forum goer is angry!

Kind of wrong about it being offtopic, offtopic is a section more for SFW chit chatter about w/e. This thread is within rules for server chat.

Curious, where were you when all of the R99 babies were crying for their own server in server chat?

I think we have the pops now to support another blue server, really. Everything is known about the content and camps now, unlike back then. Back then we had 2-3k people bumping into one another. Here, we were all bumping into one another with 500 people.

Even with only 1k people here now and kunark having been out for over 2 years you can still find a group at all levels, now, you just might have to look a little harder non peak on weekdays.

Regardless, I wouldn't get hopes up for a new blue server anytime soon, though. They have recently stated they aren't into it at this time and they are working on a new red server right now. There will be another blue server eventually, I have no doubt, and wouldn't be surprised if it's pretty much what the OP describes, but it won't be anytime soon.

All this would accomplish is flood the original server with prenerf items, manastones, guises and the like with each merge.
