Default Everquest 2

Anyone running around in EQ 2? I just downloaded the f2p. It's actually not as restricted as I remember. I remember only being able to pick like 2 or 3 races and only 1 or 2 classes from each archtype.

it is an abomination and should be taken out back and shot; I had fun playing it for a about a week, pleasant noob experience.

Played it when it was first released. Content was tough... I remember doing a quest to convert from Qeynos to Freeport and needing to kill about 400-500 gnolls or something. I enjoy that shit.

Then everything got toned down, made easy...and I was already 50/50 about the game with ogre wizards / half elf shamans... I played the free time and decided not to subscribe after that.

I think the biggest turn off among my friends was the insanely high specs needed to run it...like they were in the pockets of Dell/nvidia/etc. Shit was fucked up, my machine at the time barely ran the game [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Nowadays, the specs wouldn't be considered that high, although I did lag in Neriak for some strange reason.

I'm actually enjoying it this time around. I did play when it was first released and then again when it went f2p, but I just couldn't get into it. Now, for some reason, I'm looking forward to it every day after work - no idea why.

Also, the community is pretty great from what I experienced. When my barbarian first popped into the world, some random dwarf ran up to me and asked me if I needed help or needed to be shown around. I declined, but the fact that it happened was a really pleasant surprise.

Finally, one thing that can be said about EQ 2 is that you'd be hard-pressed to find nerdrage videos on youtube lol.

Thought EQ2 was great, but the low end population was pretty bad from what i remember. Did enjoy the PvP server though.

i've often thought of going back to eq2, had so much fun... first server wide to a full spell book of masters, highest str server wide for 2 expansions (till i quit haw) first to 50 kerran, troubador, brigand on my server (despite starting 3 weeks after game came out)

i was MUCH more hardcore there, then i ever am / will be here.

i still got my account, would just need to pay back a suscription :P

Until Oct 15th you can get a free heroic lvl 85 per acct there, after that they charge SC for em. Complete with gear to match and a flying mount. Yeah I know, that takes EQ2's EZ mode to a whole new level, but I figured what the heck. I already have a lvl 95 paladin, might as well make an 85 healer or caster.

So there are a bunch of people running around with lvl 85+ characters they don't know how to play. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

They did that right after I hit level 85 on my own. The free characters had better gear than I did, too. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Went back recently but I gave up at lvl 20. I got the game on release day but only played 2-3 months, went back after the faydwer expansion for another couple months. It isn't an awful game, it can be entertaining...but it just never could hold my interest for long periods of time.
