Someone supplied me CDs to install. I did all the changes myself and now launching the game gives me a black screen (with the EQ mouse cursor tho)

Login to the EQEMU website and click the link on the left-side bar that says 'Login servers' Create a login server ID & Password there. Your EQEMU account can have up to 3 different login servers, those are the logins that you use to actually log in when you get to the point you're at in your screenshot.

I noticed my 1 eye'd friend with the peg leg had a copy specifically designed for the Red server. Is it possible your friend leant you the same CD?
Edit: If they did, I'd suggest asking him for the regular CD version or a drive with some ISO images to install from. I'm not entirely positive the 'red specific' one doesn't contain some kind of password sniffer (seems like thats a thing the red population would do).

Ok thanks for the info. Its most likely the same friend.

Some other friend lent me CD images, the install went perfectly well but after I did all the changes I get a full back screen with only EQ's mouse cursor (when I move it around it changes to a cross somehow).

Try running the program in this:
http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=28335

and then use the shortcuts it creates (make sure to right-click and choose 'run as administrator' on the shortcut).

Ok I installed everything, it creates 2 shortcuts :
EQemu (project99)
Everquest (p99) - bypass EQemu

The 1st one brings me into EQemu option where I have to link my EQ files and Launcher. I didnt do it because I'm afraid it starts patching the whole install.

The second one pretty much brings me to the 1st screenshot I'v posted here with the same error message : DB error - Invalid Password

Update:
Created another account and it works. I think I was just stupid.
