Rolling on Red99?

I'm posting my personal experiences on Red99 so it's going to be different from a hardcore PVE/PVP player's standpoint as I would rate myself medium casual. I'll play for 4-5 hours straight if I can but it's rare that I have that kind of time. It's usually closer to 1-2 hours per day if that.

I'm putting it out here for any potential casual players thinking about rolling on Red99 to consider. I rolled a druid about a month ago and I am currently level 24. No experience at anything higher than that and I am aware that things can/probably will change the higher level I get.

1) Global OOC - It's amusing to read the shit talking that the hardcore players do without having to be in the same guild/zone as them. If someone dodges the yellow text you can bet there's going to be some green text about it.

2) Low Population/Availability of Mobs - As a casual player it's nice to go after a named/quest mob knowing there is a reasonable chance that it will be spawned and waiting for you.

3) XP Bonus - Not classic but still not as ridiculous as Live or other current MMOs. As a casual player it can be gratifying to see that xp bar move during that 1 hour you can get on in the AM.

4) Community - Honestly after reading the forums before rolling on Red99 I was convinced Sickpuppy was going to chase me around and grief my noob ass till I cried myself to sleep every night.

I've gotten smashed in pvp twice by a twink SK but he was a real champ about it. Didn't make me scoot after looting either time nor did he kill me a third time after I dodged the YT by accident and lost exp. I do realize that this isn't necessarily the norm. I'm letting people know that they're probably not going to have to run around all over Norrath leveling cause you have to keep LNS. There are definitely places to xp if you are worried about twinks jumping on you.

5) Whining about camps - You don't have to worry that some asshole is going to petition about you stealing their camp while they were selling, taking a dump, or whatever. No "oh my friend is in line after me for this guy so it's going to be awhile" bullshit.

5) PNP - Lots of people complaining about the new policy but I think it does great things for the server. It alleviates a potential player's concern about getting corpse camped for hours on end.

6) Raiding - I have never and probably will never raid on P99 but it's nice to know that the raiding guilds are always recruiting. Guild leaders/officers might take issue with this statement but that's the way I understand it.

7) PVP - The whole point of Red. I think it has made me a better player overall already across several areas that I didn't pay attention to while playing on Blue and whatever server I played on in 2000.

8) Future of Red99 - I believe this is the main reason why a potential player would hesitate to roll on Red99. Low server population, people asking for server wipe, and the possibility of Teams99 being released after Velious doesn't inspire confidence that effort and achievement here is going to last. I do think that Derubel has somewhat alleviated this concern by implementing the PNP and considering server repops. I am in no way effected if regular server repops happen but it shows that the GMs/devs are doing something in regards to investing their time in the current server. The same goes for implementing a PNP even if some people don't agree with it.

Anyways I hope this helps a few to make the decision to try Red out.

Yeah. We definitely don't get enough red posts in the blue forums already.

Edit - tried to put a [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] or something in here to make it less edge, but I can't do it in good conscience.
