Default Why do we use Titanium? Technical hurdles or staff decision?

Is it something such as the EQEMU server only being able to encrypt/decrypt packets with the Titanium algorithm or is it necessary for other reason, such as compatability with the custom shipped files (dlls) that are needed on p99?

How much work (or is it simply not allowed?) would it be to reach the point where the Sony provided official client/download would connect to and work with p99?

Initially, it was probably as simple as it being the first client that has all expansions on a single DVD.

I'd be more interested in getting the freely downloadable client working with p99, as it would make it much easier for new players to legitimately join the server.

I vaguely followed eqclassic and was pretty excited for it. What happened with yeahlight other than people trolling the forums constantly waiting that made him quit?

Basically he got about 95% of the project done and then offered to sell it to SOE and suffice to say SOE said no thanks. This caused YL to go into rage mode and start blaming everyone else and lead to him shutting down the project.
