Default Favorite movies / recommendations!

Almost as much as I'm into videogames, I'm a major film fan. My wife and I make it a point to try and watch every film that interests us and it's one of our favorite activities we do together.

In this thread post your favorite films, and if you'd like, films you recommend others to watch.

Personal favorites:

Memento
Agora
Contact
Primal Fear
Cloud Atlas
Blade Runner
Solaris (both versions)
The Watchmen
Seven
Goodfellas

And my recommendation for right now would be the new Saoirse Ronan film "How I Live Now." Came out in late 2013 and it's a fairly obscure film so it may be a bit hard to find, but it's well worth it. Very unique mix of genres (dystopic/post apocalyptic war film / romance / survival drama hybrid) and very well acted.

It's a bit messed up but Altered States is a great movie.

Yeah was wanting to suggest other types of movies that went out of the science fiction genre.

2 good vampire movies i saw during the last year:

- Byzantium

- Let the right one in (the swedish one)

This was decent?
Was looking for some zombie/vampire horror type movies to watch and i don't really like hitting play and watching for an hour to decide if id like it or not, but i read some good reviews about that one maybe ill try it out.

Very good vampire movie, so was byzantium (although kinda... not gonna hint spoilers lol). Liked Let the right one in more, but byzantium still a decent effort.

I really like the vampire genre, ive played Vampire: the masquerade tabletop RPG and always search for that kind of serious take on the vampire genre, not stuff like twilight (which i havent seen, but all the feedback is probably true)

Excellent underrated Tarantino movie. I watched this last night because I haven't seen it in ages. The cast is great and has lots going on. Highly recommend! Don't let the title fool you - not a chick flick! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Haven't seen it. Will check it out. I don't mind a good chick flick at all.

Ever see Definitely, Maybe?

Yeah, that was good. I'm a fan of Ryan Reynolds, he makes me laugh. ("Waiting..." and "Just Friends" are hilarious.)
