Question Death

How should death be handled in EQ? Is the current system satisfactory?

I propose these options:

1. Current System Satisfactory
2. No resurrection allowed, but no exp loss
3. No resurrection allowed, loss of small percentage of exp
4. Resurrection allowed, but loss of 1 level
5. Resurrection allowed, but anyone can loot your corpse
6. Resurrection allowed with exp loss regained, items stay with you so no need to get corpse
7. Permadeath, with your corpse lootable by anyone

I propose:

1) Experience loss
2) Return to bind point
3) Respawn with items

reasonable.
I would add XP dept instead of deleveling. Possibly cash penalty

The people who invented the first space ships were brilliant. That doesn't mean anybody should actually want to use them 200 years later. Ideas are limited by means of execution. Everquest has amazing ideas that need to be completely reworked in their execution, in order for classic Everquest as it was envisioned to actually exist and continue to be relevant as things have evolved.

Do you guys realize there are tons of custom EQ servers available to play?

Maybe p99 isn't for you folks who want custom content.

Check out the welcome message on project1999's main page and give it up already.

That EQLive Discord server, was some of the best PvP fun I've ever had with EQ, when it comes to the PvP part of it!

It was a permadeath server with full loot rights, that ran from December 2003 till middle of January 2004, it's unfortunate they didn't make it into a permanent server. So any death, regardless if it was from PvE or PvP, would result in lvl 1 restart. It was buggy as shit, and without GM support, it died quickly due to cheaters, cheating their asses off without any consequences whatsoever.

I still have this screenie where some guy from Darkenbane looted a lvl 6 Bard, which had like 7000 plat on him, and bags filled with a bunch of duped gear.

However, a server like that with actual GM support and anti-cheating scripts, would attract a huge population no doubt!

and this is OFF TOPIC forum if you haven't noticed. Can we talk about something we want to talk about without intervention?

Off-topic meaning non-EQ/non-p99 topics as per the sub-forum description.

Experience loss
Return to bind point
Ability to summon corpse via NPC's in hometowns or a central location, but exp loss is permanent at that point and it cannot be rezzed.
