heatsink/fan question

I have an i7 950 cpu and I came across an i7 970 for cheap. I want to use my heatsink fan from the 950 on the 970 but I am not sure if it will cool it efficiently enough or if I have to buy a new one. Unfortunately I can't find a model on the heatsink/fan so I couldn't look up this question. It is a coolermaster heatsink/fan with 5 copper pipes. I think i paid $50 for it. The i7 950 is a quad core processor and the 970 is a 6 core. Figured I would ask here since you guys are smart!
