Default Mario Kart 8

Just got this in the mail, can't wait to pop it in later. Anyone played it yet?

I played older ones many years back. I did not know they were making another tbh.
The review seems positive ( http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/mario-kart-8 )
{+100,000,000 DKP for this review =D}

Game is solid, and looks amazing. It's more racing oriented in that they've downgraded the power on items, etc. and made it harder to screw yourself over. Haven't unlocked everything but so far the Flower cup + Shell cup are my favorites. They revamped some great 64 tracks too like Peach's Raceway and Toads Turnpike, Yoshi's Island. Alot of futuristic, sci-fi oriented new levels...Rainbow Road is spacey!

Is there a legit no safety barrier Rainbow Road this time? (like the SNES version)

I miss that.

Like Mario Kart Wii (predecessor), there are parts where there's no barrier and parts where there is. It's a mix.
