Default Kedge Keep solo for 57 epic shaman?

I've never been to kedge keep, but it seems like an interesting place with good loot and a high ZEM. I have some questions:

a)At 57 with my epic, will I likely have any problems with mobs if I stay out of Estrella's room and stay away from Phinny? In particular I'm curious about Undertow and his placeholder and the seahorse cave area.

b)Should I buy a rebreather or shield of prexus (if I can find one) before attempting this place? Or just use self-cast enduring breath until I can loot a shield of prexus? Will the seahorses or mermaids (not estrellas, but the other ones) dispel enduring breath?

Any tips before I give this place a try?

You could likely do that area. There are 2 dark blue seahorses that spawn in undertows chamber. They stay DB through 60 (rarely spawn as high green). Just have to get roots in quick.

Be aware, if you're using dogdog, there are 5 level 30ish Pirahnas in the ceiling just before Undertows room. They can screw up your day if you drag a low level pet through there if you don't kill them first.

Also be aware that if you sit down near the small sailfins (level 1 mobs that path many areas of the zone)... They will proxy and get those Pirahnas to assist even if you're out of line of sight.

The seahorse come in druid and cleric varieties. They will magic nuke you, magic DoT you, and occasionally Fire DoT (but it's crappy). Have MR buffed up. They will Dispell your EB. You should have a shrunken goblin earring at top slot to help defend against this.

When root rotting use walls to your advantage, DoT up and get behind a wall.

Undertow... Are you after something in particular? He is an 8 hour respawn with probably a 30% chance to spawn, 70% chance to have a PH. Most of the time he drops the magician epic wand. Squallsurge Shawl drops probably once a week from every single spawn (3/day) if they are getting killed every 8 hours.

He is a wizard who can Ice Comet (49 so won't summon). He really hurts unless you have a pet to eat those nukes or really high resists. Doable for you but you need to clear those 2 blue seahorses first (he is high enough in the ceiling that I don't think he assists).

Seahorse caves will be tough for you. After killing Coralyns PH (mermaid just outside cave), you will have 3 static seahorses plus 1 pather to contend with when breaking the cave. All of them will be casting nukes, heals, stuns and dispells on you. It's doable but you have to root everything ASAP and start using walls to ignore some of their casts while you DoT others.

Then after its broken there are 3 rooms with single static seahorses you can dispatch easily. Matriarch is a cleric who CHs. Easy to kill just out heal her magic nukes and DoT through her healing.

EB item... Get it. It's worth it.

hi, side question! When you say pet to eat the nukes.. how does this work exactlyl? If you send pet in on a rooted mob and you are dotting etc.. wont the agro cause him to nuke you instead? or because the merb is rooted, and meleeing pet, does that mean he will always go for pet until root breaks?

thanks for enlightening this for me!

Generally rooted mob will focus all nukes on your pet.

Especially since you can get around a corner and get out of LoS once he is rooted.
