![]() Just wondering if there has been any news on the damage shield situation since the last patch. I read something about a new spell file or something that would be posted, but I haven't been able to log on lately. Has this been added yet? I haven't seen anything new, but I often over look stuff, especially when I don't have a lot of time. Thanks!

![]() I've downloaded the package from the getting started guide and replaced my old spells_us.txt file but the duration bug doesn't seem to be fixed. Granted, it lasts about 5 and a half minutes now as opposed to 1, but is it not meant to be 15? This is as a lvl15 druid.

![]() Curious, when working properly(duration) is there still a random chance that the mage DS will drop before duration expires? Here is why: I cast it the other night on the tank in Upper guk. At the same time i cast it on my water pet just in case he had to off tank ..i got the message in a few minutes that the DS had worn off <Tank> but i look at pet window and it still had over 2 minutes. I updated my spell file before this also.
Thanks | ||

![]() To fix the DS duration, both the caster and the target must have the new spells_us.txt from the package. I know this for a fact, as last night a druid cast a 15min and it had a duration of 5.5 min. I logged out to get the package, came back in, dropped the previous buff and he re-casted to reveal a 15min buff duration.

![]() actually it does stick the 15minutes, even if the one who has the DS hasnt updated his spell_us.txt...
today i used the mage DS on my brothers char, he ddidnt have the update.. i casted it on him and when he said it wore off, it still worked (according to my combat log) and when i recasted it, i got the message that it wore off so.. im still not sure tho, cause i didnt look at the HP etc and i may have confused it with the pets damageshield, but i will check the logfile tomorrow

![]() Yes its dependant on the receiver of the spell, because what happens is, even though the server thinks "Ok, this spell is landing on the client.. Its a 15 minute duration", it will start a timer to count it down, however the client sees the spell land and think "Ok, 5 minute duration.". When the timer reaches 0 on the client, it sends a message to the server saying "Hey, This buff is fading on me." The server says "Oh, It shouldn't be, but ok <delete>" (It may use the same packet for clicking a buff off). That's why the client must have the right file.
