Default Cannot change resolution in game

Hi - so it began in fullscreen but after moving to character creation it changed to a small window. The bottom of the screen is not visible within the borders of the window as well. Like the EQ menu.
I opened options, and tried changing resolutions but it has no effect.

I am running on a 2K monitor. I tried changing to different resolutions in display settings and it also does not help.

I can hit ALT-Enter and go in and out of fullscreen mode but the resolution is still too large for viewing area.

What am I missing? How do I fix this?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Do you have to change it? Is it necessary?

Go into your Project 1999 folder and search for the file:

eqclient.ini

Scroll toward the bottom and you should see

[VideoMode]
WindowedWidth=1920
WindowedHeight=1080
Width=1920
Height=1080

You can change both the windowed resolution values as well as the fullscreen values here. Save and close the file and reopen the game.

Default that file does not exist

Unfortunately that file does not exist. the closest one and obvious one is eqlsclient.ini
but it has none of the stuff youd expect to see in it. I have looked at all ini files and none of them containn resoltion for the game client (only for windows within the game like the social window etc)
The game itself allows me to change resolution but it makes no difference when I do. I was going to load this on a retro laptop and see how it works, but so far there is nothing I have done that makes this playable for me.

Yes it is required to change it. I explained why in original message.

Valrok -
So this ini does not exist. the closest is eqlsclient.ini and it has none of the expected information to edit. I have opened all ini files in the installation and not a single one has resolution info for the game client. Only resolution info for windows within the game. Like interface resolutions.

I may have to play this on my retro laptop, but wanted to avoid that.

And like I said, I can change resolution in the options in the game but it has no effect when applied.

You installed under program files, or some other protected directory. Unless you run eqgame.exe as admin, it cannot write to a protected directory (and create the eqclient.ini file). You'll find yours in your user's appdata folder.

Move your p99 install out of program files.
