Default Classic memories

I remember back in 1999-2000 era when i was playing and all the things I enjoyed. I remember seeing 90% the server population abuse the item recharging bug and the multiquesting bug. In fact, it was even put in the server purposely and the players initially found out through the gms that using this bug to flood the server with lvl 20 rogues with their epics was completely OK and encouraged.

I remember back when guild competition wasnt based on evil things like "rotations" or "instancing". Guild competition back in 1999 was based on awesome things like which guild can answer their batphone the quickest, who can sit and stare at a wall the longest (also called tracking), who has spent the most money on SSD's, who can lawyerquest the best, and all the other awesome features of classic everquest.

Speaking of instancing, im so glad that here on P99 we wont ever use such an archaic and inferior raid system. No petitionquest? No GM rule lawyering? Competition not based on SSD's and answering batphones at 5:30AM? No training? Who the hell would want any of that? It is so much fun for the GMs to babysit and play cops every week so it would be incredibly dumb to change it to something else.

Rotation? Fuck that! If I cant gear up my 8th alt with his epic and VP loot in only a few months, there is something wrong with that.

Anyway I'm just nostalgic about the good old days and im glad to see all the best features from classic everquest made its way to the endgame here on project1999. Anyway I have to go, my autofire program is acting up and I don't want to be booted from my position in the guild.

Thanks P99 gms for the authentic classic experience! I'm off to sit and track a mob for the next 15 hours, then i have to go mq my friends rogue his epic (hes only been playing for three days), then I have to go and petitionquest and try to get the other big raid guild suspended by manipulating the rules and bitching and crying about gm favoritism, then i have to go shopping for new SSD's for the officers in my guild because we heard that our rival guild has faster hard drives then us and we cant possibly compete within these rules without them, and then I have to go and send out a batphone through twitter to everyones cell phones so they can wake up (hopefully they can wake up faster then our rival guild! True everquest competition!)

Question of the day - What class guild were you in back in p99? Class C or Class R?

This is the most ridiculous post I've read in a while.

If you don't remember batphones and high-end raiders spending their spouse's hard earned paychecks on PCI slot ramdisks to decrease load times then you were likely still deciding on a catchy name for your female high elf cleric while the rest of us were fighting over Vox loot.

People who pretend like the problems we face today are not similar to the problems of 1999 were probably born in 1998.

Stop pretending like you were there.

Ahh yes, all those people spending their spouses money on high end hard drives, clearly one of the defining features of classic everquest. If you didnt know people who spent their spouses money on hard drives then clearly you werent around! The amount of deadbeat spouses taking their husband or wives money for their hard drive addiction were astronomical at the time. You couldnt cross the street without stepping over one.

Yeah greldor you got me, I was born in 1998. The jig is up.

Not really. Try harder next time to make a point or dont post.

Greldor, your credibility can be restored if you can post a wayback machine screenshot of raid.php from back in the day. Hop to it!

Batphones were less efficient, but we certainly did them.
People were already MQing jboots when I joined in Sep 1999.
And yes, bard kiting was around.
