Default Druid help.

So Ive played EQ off and on since Kunark Live and have mostly played melee (rogue) and I did lvl a Shaman to lvl 32 once.

I am playing p99 blue and have a lvl 21 Druid and have decent gear, But I seem to go OOM or close too it having to re-charm constantly. Also When having to re-charm right before it is close to finishing the mob usually bashes me and I have to re-cast. My question is do I snare my pet and the mob I'm trying to kill or just the mob I am trying to kill? Any tips greatly appreciated.

Make sure you are charming low blues, less chance of a break.

I'd snare both mobs, it's basically free so why not.

At 21 I think I was charming level 13-14ish gorge hounds and griffawns in EK and using them to aggro kite Crag Spiders around (snare, spam flame lick) after pet took some hits to get low, then breaking charm finishing both the spider and pet off.

Like the above poster stated, make sure you are charming low blues (you can check the wiki to find out what exact level certain mobs are). A mob 5 levels below you will less likely resist and/or break charm early than say a mob 1 level under you.

And I usually snare both mobs, or snare my pet and root the mob hes fighting. It will get a little easier in Velious when root and snare stack

at 21 go to EK and charm gorge hounds near the bridge. charm one, park it away from all the pathers. pull another and root it away from where all the rest path and sic pet on it. the only problem i ever have with mana there is when i am too lazy to pull back and end up with 2 or 3 adds and have to root them all til i can deal with them. it can also help to go to EC and get clarity then port back to karana

Thanks for the help. I think snaring both mobs will help me out more and I think I'm too involved when charm kiting. I normally snare the mob I'm attacking send my charm pet after it and cast Flame lick and Stinging Swarm which is usually the time my charm breaks then scramble to get control of my pet again.

I really had a tough time charming until I was able to do the elephant highway in SK for this very reason, resists and breaks led to wasted mana.

Practice and more practice will help you. Snaring will certainly give you some wiggle room when charm breaks, but takes more mana. Experiment with using root and cancel magic as well. I've always like that combo.

Root mob youre fighting, root your pet when charm breaks, recharm, stand next to newly rooted pet, cancel magic on mob, re-root mob, treeform to heal after the fight.

Charming will always eat you HP - its a bit less conventional than your "don't let anything hit the caster" mentality. Don't be afraid to experiment and learn using snares, roots, cancels and fear. Believe me, dying in your 20s sure beats having to eat a death at 59 in the bear pits...
