Default EQ2 Time Locked Progression Servers

What's happening!? - We're getting progression servers, sort of like EQ1. It isn't full on 'progression' because a lot of modern changes still exist. They are tweaking numbers and mechanics to feel more old school. It starts with the base game, and after the server majority votes on it, the game progresses to the next expansion. Many expansion-locked features are gated behind those expansions.

Here's the actual official FAQ/Announcements:

https://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...g-soon.560925/

https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq2...ne-16.560924//

When is it happening!? - July 21st of this year. It's a 2 week beta period, which is super short, but maybe it will be good.

Great! How do I do it? - Sub and make a character on the new PVE or PVP server. Yes, you need a sub. Sorry. 15 bucks for the month. Slam less ham and play video gam.

Well, how do they decide when to move on to the next expansion? - Quote from Roshen: "Players will have the option to vote to unlock content every 30-days. The voting period will last a week, and if the server votes not to unlock the next expansion, the vote will start again after 30-days.

If the server chooses not to unlock content three times in a row, the votes for the next expansion will change to 90-days in-between votes. This will reset back to 30-days in-between votes after an expansion is successfully unlocked on your server.

Players must be within 20 levels of current content cap to be eligible to vote."

it was pretty fun for quite some time....some people got bored earlier but i d say the complete dowhhill was in SF year.... they turned it lite version because of players always bitchin on the forums and they started to get a dead server....

i tried beta it s a mix of the classic version with the lite version... there are some major broken things like mitigation issues coz they tryin to make mobs challengin again etc but they say they fixing it for when it goes live...

pvp people are havin hell of fun on it but only a few classes are viable coz of the mitigation issue... ( which they said they fixin )

raid is a mysterie.... only future will tell coz beta wasnt suficient to fully test them.

levelin s fun like startin naked and havin to fight red mobs and gettin wiped.

I quit EQ2 before the trial period ended. Fuck any game with locked encounters.

EQ2 is total shit. I tried really hard to like it and even got close to level cap, but it was really depressing every time.

The graphics and lighting engine were cool for the time, and I liked player housing and some of the other things, like the mentor system. But the combat is just face-numbingly boring, kiting has been 100% removed, and the game has also been WoWified since release like EQ1 with no death penalty, etc.

If I recall correctly, turning on autoattack actually locks your character onto the mob physically. So every encounter, which other players are locked from participating in, feels like a rails shooter with button mashing instead of a fun shooting mechanic. It's just terrible.

Also it's sparsely populated and the people who do play are cut from about the same cloth as Second Lifers. That was cool when I was a horny 15 year old ERPing an ultra submissive japanese girl but even then it wasn't worth staying subbed to the game.
