Default AFK Camping

Well heres what happen ... some people may know I camp Gynok a lot. I kill the PH and normally leave the game running while I work, 6mo baby, or wife. I am always there before respawn unless an emergency then I am perfectly fine with whoever else is there grabbing the mob or camp.

However yesterday was the first time I encountered a douchebag while camping this infamous mummy. He came in asked me if I was camping then when I didn't answer immanently he sits right in front of me in between the spawn and I. So when I return I have a humans ass in my face with 5 tells about how he is gonna report me for AFK spawn camping. He then begins an argument about the rules ....I told him their only problem with AFK waiting for a spawn is that some douchebags have a problem with it ... thats almost an exact quote from the page listing "Camps, Defined" I inform him that the word "rule" is not listed on the page and they are more like guidelines. Just polite etiquette to follow while camping.

Truthfully ... am I being unreasonable? I really enjoyed playing this game way back when and I still do now ... just times have changed. I no longer have the time to group or do anything that requires me to be at the keyboard for hours at a time. New baby, new wife, new place, job, and everything in between. I consider myself lucky I can log on at all ...but to be hassled and harassed because I only have the time to play the game 30 seconds out of 16 minute spawn at a time. I dont have a problem with server policies or rules ....just a problem with douchebags threatening to report me and misquoting "rules" because I didnt answer his question fast enough or he really wants the camp? I would have happily given up to him like I had done countless times just because I cant sit there for hours on the computer.

Please input....just wanna know others take on this.

Honestly, think you need to spend time with your new wife and new baby, and stop worrying about EQ so much...just my opinion.

You are AFK camping, probably something where you and said other person would need to agree on how to share...

How can you make an assumption that I dont spend time with them, then, based on that assumption criticize me? You dont have enough information about my personal life to create such theories.

From "Camps, Defined":

"6. AFK camping is not respected and is frowned upon, if caught afk camping you will be booted to the character select screen."

I can understand your plight, I am not always at my keyboard during play due to being busy (especially while medding though I don't afk camp).

However, Number 6 does say this is not respected and is frowned upon. The guidelines/rules or whatever they are, are what they are (and the GM's do a pretty awesome job here I think).

He doesn't sound too much like a douchebag (not having seen the chat myself), it does say in number 6 above that if you are caught afk camping you will be booted to the login screen. Basically he should have just reported you and got you booted, rather than fighting with you. Then the camp would be his as long as he wanted to camp it not afk.

This seems pretty straight forward based on Number 6 of the "Camps, Defined" thread, doesn't it?
I agree with every word here ...

I'm not making any assumption...

You sit at a camp and every 16 minutes you go over to the computer to kill a mob? If I were your wife, I would wonder where in that sixteen minutes you wouldn't be doing a countdown...

Just my opinion...

AFK camping ... means letting your pet kill something, over and over, while you are afk. This is frowned upon.

AFKing between spawns on a 16 minute camp? Not afk camping..

You all need to wake up and find some logic here. The only time someone should be allowed to take the mob from someone sitting on top of its spawn point is if they don't respond when the mob pops. Otherwise there is no problem sitting there keeping a mental reminder when to come back to a spawn that is notorious for taking countless hours.

We all know none of you will sit there for 16 hours straight, staring at an empty spawn point, that you will eventually have to afk, probably to poop. And if you don't have a sock handy, well, you might just have to do it during that 16 min window where some random person may or may not ask you if you're camping it.

Basically, respect others and play nice. I figured it was obvious that the rule regarded afk pet exp'ing, perhaps not.

Don't knock on the guy for having things to deal with for 15 minutes at a time in life, regardless of what they may be. You all would be finding something to do if you were camping Gynok, whether it be porn, tv, wife porn, whatever.

QFT

hate it when people tell me im afk camping when i just go afk between the PH-spawns...whats the problem with that? Why should i sit there and stare at nothing for whatever time, when i exactly know when the next mob pops?

As long as you keep your camp clear, its yours.
