Quest Issue: The Velium Focus Bug

This all happenend at 12:56:08 8/20/15

After receiving the item from Phenocryst where he sends you to Crystal Caverns, i turned in that item to a geonid, i got the new item that i am to return to Phenocryst. I gave that item to Phenocryst and got the dialogue :

"Phenocryst sends it's thoughts to you, a feeling of disappointment washes over you, 'It seems the others are not aware of themselves yet. We are alone.. So many questions yet we find no answers. We have been given a very special gift but without direction we are lost. We must find who has made us aware of ourselves and why it has done so"
Your faction standing with GeonidCollective got better.

then i got nothing , i am to get a Elbiate Focus.

You are to say "Find what" and then "I will gather these stones for you"

He turns to you and says nothing. Bugged.

Nevermind.

I think you are wrong. You didn't read it right:

"Phenocryst gives you an item for telling him you'll gather the stones. It's a magic, lore, no drop Elbaite Focus that has 5 charges of Identify. It looks like a fire emerald. "

You need to tell him you will gather the stones or something.

Yep tried it 3 times, wasted a good 3 hours. Gotta love EQ. Thanks for the affirmation!

OH....humm. So my issue with the quest was when I handed the 1st focus item from Normon.

I went to WL after getting it from Normon, handed the focus to Pheno, he gave me back another focus, then I said "how can I help you" and Pheno said nothing.

So I hailed him. He responded back with the typical response for a player who isn't doing a quest. So I was dumb enough to hand him the focus I just got from him to see if there would be a reset or something. Ya, he ate it. EDIT2: I guess Pheno isn't responding to /say with him targeted then. Maybe this is a bug.

I think I can just start over, but I have a petition in to verify I won't be stuck again. Or maybe they can just reset my character so I can start the quest fresh again.

EDIT:

A guildy of mine just finished his a few days ago. So I know this did work.

Well He didnt give me any dialogue after i gave him the item from the dwarf in thurgadin but he did give me the item. so i took that item to any geonid in Crystal Caverns, turned that in and it worked fine. It was when i handed Phenocryst the item from the geonid is where he ate it and gave me the lines of dialogue above. But he gave me no Elbiate Focus needed for the next step. Tried 3 times. i guess i can try again...heh
