![]() Hello, I've recently just made a new troll shaman. I've been enjoying my struggle to level here but I've just hit level 5 and have to wonder what has happened.
It seems according to the wiki, and in game that every mob has jumped to 200+ health. According to the wiki and playing in almost every other zone this seems insane. My shaman loses over half of his health fighting a level 5 froglok or fungus man and thats with skin like nature on. Is this actually classic? I don't recall getting bodied by every mob in the swamp by them having twice my health or more. In before I'm just a casual but I thought I'd at least ask, search doesn't seem to result in anybody mentioning the health disparity specifically.

![]() It's not supposed to be like you report it. Reasons that i can think of:
1) You still have your first weapon and as mobs get more hp you are not used to long fights. 2) You had a bad streak or two, not doing much damage. 3) Some prankster group charmed and buffed noob mobs before releasing them (unlikely but possible) The time between 4 and 8 is hard for all priests. You can't med yet, but you need mana to kill mobs fast enough. I would try to find groups, makes it easier.

![]() Even with newbie weapons you can breach level 10 within other zones.
I've been at this for an hour or two now. Its not just bad rounds and luck on my end. To kill a equal con mob (hell they're blue now, -1 level) I need perfect luck on resists and full mana. I thought it might be buffs, but no its every single level 5-6 mob in the zone. They just have obnoxiously high hp compared to the rest of the game, even the things in guk are lower on total health or on par despite being levels higher( I actually went in out of desperation). I lucked out on a group and achieved level 6. I really just wonder if this was how it was in classic since my memory can't be trusted but basing it off the wiki/recent play every other newbie zone isn't like this. I guess the best I could do is try to find old archives of alla or something.

![]() I am guessing it is A-OK down there, and game is harder than you remember. Hopefully someone investigates though, I'm curious now.
It gets easier, killing mobs does at least. Lowest levels are most difficult for shaman, cleric, druid, enchanter, bard, many classes.

![]() For the record, the 5 man group I am in right now gets mauled by single even/blue cons. The only saving grace is one of us has some broken arse velious axe with a huge dot/nuke which makes this remotely feasible.
Again I'm well aware that the low levels suck, especially for priests before meditate and core spells. But this shit is way out of tune with the rest of the game. I know I'm sounding like a broken record but maybe I just wanna hear enough people tell me to git gud or run to ec or something.

![]() Yeah but noobs tend to be near naked, so you get wrecked by blues. I remember soloing as a cleric like this, I spend my entire manabar killing a npc that was 3 levels lower then me, then i'd spend the next 11 mins medding back to full to kill it again. XD

![]() Back in real classic EQ the only classes that could solo effectively were mages, druids and necromancers. Everyone else had to group. You were lucky if you had a warrior tank in leather.. :/

![]() I'm actually gonna even add that game is easier than it was on classic. Anyone else remember fizzling away entire mana bars at level one making, killings snakes and bats more based on lucky melee swings than anything else.
