Default Curious

I'm curious as the server is basically going to go all the way up to velious. And I totally love the idea of that.

I am wondering why somethings that were content patch after velious is still in game and why some stuff that is content is not in game.

When buying and selling, you used to have to hit buy each time for 1 item. after sol was released they changed it so you could buy in whatever amount you wanted to.

This leads me to the newbie quests/armor, they are not in game. they were released after velious. Mind you this was more content patch to make the game less of a drag for new players etc.. I don't think it would be game breaking.

But just a thought.

There are some things in the game that are not easily changed due to the eqemu binaries. The devs are getting it as CLOSE as they can to original with what they are provided.

As for the newbie armour. It's about as good as SolRo quest armour and that isn't even in the game yet. Newbie armour quests would completely ruin those armour sets.

Better actually, as most of the newbie armor is tuned to class it was created for, and much of the Sol Ro armor doesn't seem to have that benifit.

This kind of brings up another question about Velious. There was a significant amount of time between Velious and Luclin and there were probably many things added in patches during that time. I'd have to assume that these things will be implemented as they were considered changes during the Velious life cycle. I know that Velious time era is when hybrid penalties were removed, however it wasn't on opening day(I know this because I excitedly rolled an SK after Velious was released and I returned to EQ for the 3rd time). Think it was done a week or two after the actual Velious release.

Just bringing up an interesting question.

I think most people's qualms with Luclin involve the new zones/models ruining the old game's experience. As long as there's no bazaar/nexus I can't see people complaining about hybrid penalties being removed and such.

For those who recall, the *original* Luclin-era newbie armor sets were quite terrible, on par with Ringmail (lower AC than banded) and usually with marginal stats. The Sol Ro armor was far superior. The largest downside of the newbie sets in their original form was giving a nice 'set look' to low-level players who previously would have mix-and-matched leather or worse.

The sets were later upgraded. Neither version is classic. Available items in-game (leather, banded, etc) are perfectly sufficient for the needs of any low-level player.
