Default Bard mez/charm benefit from instrument?

Songs like mez, charm, and lull are tagged as string or wind or whatever, but do they actually benefit from using an instrument?

No, No, Yes!

There is a notable difference in aggro radius reduction when using a lute. Higher charisma benefits all 3, at least resist wise, if you're looking for something all encompassing.

If a mez also decreases target's MR (i.e. Crimson's Pixie Strike) does equipping a flute affect the MR debuff?
