Default Ranger twink

I'm about at the point where I can sell off pretty much all my alt gear and barely be able to afford a fungi, but I'm not sure which option is going to result in faster leveling for a ranger:

Option 1:
Fungi, FBSS, cheap .5 ratio weapons like Jade Maces or Lamentations, shitty armor like banded or ivy etched

Option 2:
Iksar BP that I already have, FBSS, and about 30k in piecemeal armor like SC wristbands, better weapons (Woodsman's Staff), WW Dragon armor, Black Sapphire Electrum earrings, etc

What would you do? I'm kind of leaning towards the fungi cause a lot of the gear in option 2 could probably be replaced by thurg chain when I near the 50s.

If I put my mind to it I can probably scratch together around 5k a week for future upgrades toward option 1

I'd go Fungi. My ranger is very similar to your Option 1, with a Fungi, SCHW, a Woodsman's Staff and pretty much nothing else of value aside from some 55 hp rings. I've pretty much shredded my way to the low 30s so far with almost no difficulty. It would be a tiny bit slower with the weaker weaponry, but not enough for me to go Option B.

The Fungi is a overpowered item in my opinion and should be the highest priority for any melee twink.

A fungi is a great investment on a ranger. I use mine at 60 still.

Ivy Etched/banded has enough AC to carry you through the 40s, so I would not want to spend 30k on armor which would be a pretty marginal upgrade for these levels. Just go straight to velious quest armor without having to waste time buying/selling more expensive items?

I suppose if you won't be maining your twink, there is a good chance you could find a woodsman's staff/plat to buy one by the time it becomes significantly better than the quick 1handers or a cheap silver swiftblade.

I think these two points are good reasons to go with option1; I don't think you are sacrificing much to have a fungi.

If you do go for option 1, I might have a spare silver swiftblade you could have as a gift if you like? It's great up to 20!

That would be awesome, Ive been trying to buy one. I'm going the fungi route. Ive sold most of my big ticket items already, just gotta offload the Iksar BP now to have fungi plat

Echoing what others have said, fungi is really all that matters and will take you to your 50s with no hassle at all.
