Ladder Style Progression Server(s)?
So, come with me for a moment, to a fantasy world where logistical issues including but not limited to: legal issues, system requirements, costs, staffing, number of characters per server, maintaining enough population on each server etc. are not not a problem.
What would everyone's take be on a series of servers, each one locked into an era by expansion. The first server would be CLASSIC only, and include updates which occurred on live, all the way up until Kunark release. At that point, all characters on that server are transferred to the Kunark server, and the classic server is reset to day 1. Those same characters can be accessed on the Kunark Server, which progresses until velious release, and are then transferred again to the velious server. All servers reset back to their original status on reset day so you are essentially experiencing each xpac as if it had just been released. Assuming a steady influx of new players, people could experience EQ as it was on day 1 and progress through the game. Or if you wanted to jump into a particular era, you could create a character on say the luclin server, then progress on to PoP and further from there. Missed the sleeper or any other one time only events? No worries because they will be reset also with the server resets! What do you all think? | ||

Here's the thing I have realized with all these ideas of a new server or whatever. With EQEmu, everyone has the opportunity to set up a server the way they want. If anyone really thinks their implementation is the bomb, do it.

I've mentioned this idea a few times in various threads. I believe it would be a huge success to have a server where people raced for content.
Discord server once upon a time was suppose to have a 'leaderboard' of sorts to show the progress to each player. There has been no word on that since. A race for classic to velious would be pretty awesome. Current guilds could actually compete for a reason other than to gear alts. ps. didn't read OP.
